Perryville Stars & Stars Elite Tryout Process
The word tryout is daunting to say the least. It’s even more so for the young ladies who are coming out to try and make a team. A few things to keep in mind to ease the stress a bit!
First, register online at www.stars-fastpitch.com for the tryout. While registering you will choose a time and date for your daughter's tryout based upon age and availabiity.
On tryout day, be positive and support your daughter. They may be nervous and likely you will be too!! Just stay positive and support them. Even if they don’t make the team, if softball is truly the sport they love, they will get there. We have had several instances of players not making a team serving as motivation for the next year!
At tryouts, you will get checked in. At this time, your daughter may at this time find a partner and begin warming up in the outfield away from the tryouts currently ongoing. Please make sure your daughter warms up, because when the tryout starts, there is no more time to warm-up.
During the tryout, your daughter will be testing in the following areas:
During this time you may observe and move with your daughter to watch each portion of her tryout. However, stay outside the field of play, only coaches and tryout participants are allowed on the field.
Once the tryout is complete. You are free to leave. In the following days, you will receive an email from Stars Fastpitch providing you with a player number. You will also receive a date for when those who made teams will be posted online at www.stars-fastpitch.com.
We will not post the names of players who made the team, only the number you were provided in your email. If that number is posted to have made the team, your daughter has made a team. If it’s not, they have not.
If your daughter made a team, you will be contacted by the head coach within a week. The head coach will let you know when the initial parents meeting will occur. As part of Perryville Stars Fastpitch, you will be required to pay a $400 player fee and a $50 organizational fee. However, there is the possibility of more funds required or extra fundraising depending on each team's schedule and ambitions for the upcoming season. At the parent’s meeting, your $50 organizational fee is due. In 60 days following the tryout, half of the player fee is due, $250.
If your daughter makes one of our Stars Elite teams (14U-18U only), fees are $600 per player along with a $50 organizational fee. Stars Elite is a college showcase and exposure program for dedicated players who have the capability and wish to pursue plying softbal collegiately.
The player fee covers uniforms, tournament, umpires and equipment cost. The organizational fees cover organizational fees such as website hosting and development, insurance, outside team instruction, field rentals, etc.
